El Dia de Los Muertos--PV's decorations

These pictures are of the altar and decorations inside the City Hall here in PV.

I thought this was interesting the way they used the skeleton, dressed as la Catrina as the honored one. Flowers, candles and tissue paper are on the altar and the votive candles light the way.

This is inside the City Hall. The fountain, now decorated with the papel picado, is in the lobby. The letters, made of colored sand, spell out: City Hall, Puerto Vallarta. Look just to the left of the fountain, on the floor, and you will see the next picture.

This is La Catrina in colored sand. She was about 15 feet tall! There is a balcony surrounding the lobby and there were decorations all around it. I walked by each and looked but resisted taking a picture of every one! (Aren't you glad I didn't photograph each one??!!)

I hope you have enjoyed the explanation and pictures of El Dia de Los Muertos.

Hasta luego.

Yes, I have enjoyed learning all of this about the day of the dead. I had no idea that it was a 2-day affair in Mexico. Craig said that Mexicans will do anything to extend a holiday an extra day.....but then he should know!! LOL
Thanks for all of that info, Sheila.
